Movie.Music.Monday (MMM #4)

MOVIE

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Well. Haven't had one of these in a while. Apologies, mates. Any who, we are now getting closer and closer to the famed date of March 21, 2014 aka Divergent release date. The review of Divergent that I have been falsely promising for so long will now be put up on March 20, a little refresher for all of us before the big day. Yes, I realize both dates seem so far away. I feel the same. Dear Summit, can we please have it now? Pleeeease?
No? How can you say no to that face?! Fiiiiiine, we'll wait, albeit with much impatience.

In terms of seriousness, the movie itself is projecting to be either a bit under or a bit over the $69 million money-raking that Twilight did on its opening weekend. It also has a lot of pressure on it, as the previous book-to-movie adaptations have not done well at all. Divergent is the only hope to keep the new franchise alive. And I have faith that it will. The cast is perfect, the trailers are highly promising, and nothing but praise is being heard left and right!

THIS WEEK'S FIRST MATE: Sunmi, "Full Moon"

Sunmi, Sunmi, I can't stop waxing poetry about your perfect-ness.
Coming back with a vampire concept, Sunmi shows everyone how to actually pull off a sexy concept with class, and not trashiness. Not only does she have the most addictive title track, Full Moon, the rest of her tracks are just as good, each, in my opinion, deserving their own MV! Gimme more Sunmi~
Also, she's pretty boss for dancing bare foot [even if it's for medical reasons]. Here's the original MV and also a favorite live performance of mine. Enjoy!

I'm currently experiencing a prolonged book hangover due to Ms. Heather Lyons. She has written a book so good, I'm unable to move on to books sitting idly in my Kindle. Thank you, The Deep End of the Sea for leaving me to withstand this life-crisis. Review to come soon.

Also, hallelujah for sunny weather. I'm in near tears because the snow is GONE! Yusss.
Yeah. Helloooooo sunshine~

Tell me mates, what book has left YOU so very hungover? I'd like to know so I can move past this one.

Movie.Music.Monday (MMM #3)

MOVIE

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Aye lads and lassies, today be an exciting day. I have not one, not two, but three pieces of news concerning THREE DIFFERENT MOVIES.
Exciting, right? Okay, here we go.

First up, THREE NEW STILLS of Divergent have been released. First, we have a totally adorbs moment between Tris and Four:

Next up, with a total turn in the mood, we have the terrifying moment of Tris' simulation:

And finally, we have Tris looking out of the train:

Next up, in the world of Vampire Academy, we have TWO NEW STILLS. First up is the three ladies, Rose, Lissa, and Natalie, hangin' about, lookin' all pretty:

And then we have the sexy Dimitri and Rose, mid-training:

Finally! Yes, it's been a lot of exciting news to take in but bear with me for one more bout of excitement. I know, you know, we all know of Lauren Oliver, the brilliant author of the Delirium Trilogy. We also know her new book, Panic, is due to come out this Spring. What's new is that Universal Pictures has already landed the film rights for Panic! Now, I'm even more psyched to read the book. Aren't you?

Yeah, I can't wait either.

This week, I've been addicted to power-house diva Ailee's newest release, "Singing Got Better" It's such an emotional rock ballad, complemented by the great MV with Lee Joon of MBLAQ and Ailee herself.

MOVIE

Of course, OF COURSE for today's movie section I MUST speak about the delectable first clip of Divergent. Been living under a rock and haven't seen it yet?

O_O Man, they aren't holding anything back to promote the movie {a fact that I, along with every Divergent fan, is enjoying very much}. Any people who had their doubts(WHY?!) about Theo James, well, I don't think you can say much after this trailer.

Yes, yes, they missed a line but hey, we've had the book-->movie talk before. And I prefer it this way. The atmosphere was kept and wasn't destroyed by the comedic line. I approve of this decision. I approve of this clip. I APPROVE EVERYTHING. But, really, loving the chemistry. So much that I can't stop clicking replay.

Maybe it's because I'm ecstatic over my finals' result but I've been into some very feel-worthy music lately. My latest obsession is "Run" by the uber-talented Younha. The video is such a visual pleasure. So out of this world, so...not normal, yet it matches the song perfectly. And her voice, wow, too gorgeous. She's too underrated with a voice like that. Here you go, lads and lassies, I hope you find the song a elating as I did.

*I do apologize for being MIA for a week. It's just, I'd gotten caught up in catching up with life. And reading. Because, you know, I have to review books here as well. And watching some movies I'd missed, which I'll review as well. But it's good to be back on the water, mates! Also, leave your thoughts on the Divergent clip and Younha's song in the comments below ^^ This captain loves to talk to her beloved shipmates*

Captain's Log 11/12/2013 - Rating, I mean RANKING, system

My lovely dearies, before I post my review of Divergent, I just wanted to put something out there, something I've address in a previous post: MY RANKING SYSTEM. It is by this ranking system (this updated version), that I will express my likability towards a book, song, movie, etc. So, are y'all paying attention?
...I'll just hope you are ;)

Walk The Plank: There are somethings I regret in life and somethings I just want off my ship IMMEDIATELY. How drunk was I that I chose this? So much precious time, lost...
Scurvy Dog: I'm one step away from declaring this trash. I must've fallen for the cover. Wise men spoke true words: don't judge a book by its cover.
Cabin Boy: Wow, I made the right decision to let this wealthy one come on board and travel on this voyage with me. It has been an absolute pleasure. Maybe you should stay and become a mate aboard the Jolly Anne...MAYBE
First Mate: You, fine piece, are my right hand. I cannot live without you, and neither can this ship. Thank you so much for your beautiful existence. You cannot leave this ship, no can do.
Loot: This. This is what all I review strive to be. Not a part of the ship but a part of the loot, forever immortalized, forever enshrined, loved, gazed upon in awe. Truly a master piece. You have Neptune's grace.

Well, there you have it dearies. Better memorize it!
Oh wow, um sorry to bust your bubble, Ji Sung, but I was just kidding. The rankings will be posted in the blog sidebar for reference! Look forward to the Divergent review coming veeeeery soon

Hoist the Colors of...Divergent!

Aye, I do love that phrase. Makes me shiver in my boots as I recall the Pirates of the Carribean movies.

Hoist the Colors is my advanced warning for you lads and lassies, one you should heed. Tomorrow, I'll be reading Divergent and live tweeting my thoughts at the same time. Hope you're following me on @CaptainKaelyn ! So grab your copies of Divergent and join me from 12am-2pm as I take my first shot at this series.  Obviously we won't finish...I think...so look forward to these many live tweet readings. I'll be posting of them to warn you ahead of time of the upcoming adventure!

To be honest, I'm a bit scared, because of the non-spoiler things I've been hearing about Allegiant, but I do love me a book that can pull at my heart ^^
